THE DARKER evenings are heading our way as the clocks go back one hour at 2am on Sunday 29 October.

This will give us an extra hour in our cosy warm beds as we prepare for the colder months - when the sun sets earlier and days get significantly shorter (in other words, going to work and coming home again in the dark!)

In the UK the clocks go forward one hour at 1am on the last Sunday in March, and back one hour at 2am on the last Sunday in October.

The period when the clocks are one hour ahead is called British Summer Time (BST). There’s more daylight in the evenings and less in the mornings (sometimes called Daylight Saving Time).

When the clocks go back, the UK is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

So get those clocks changed and enjoy that lie in (unless you have small children; you can enjoy the extra hour of CBeebies..)
