Civic reception for All-Ireland camogs

THE Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has held a civic reception for two of Antrim’s All-Ireland winning camogie squads.

Members of the Under 16 and Minor teams attended the event, which was hosted by Councillor Brenda Chivers last Tuesday.

The players, who were joined by their coaches, also brought along their trophies to mark the special occasion.

Offering her congratulations, the Mayor said: “It is very special for a county to win an All-Ireland title and I would like to offer everyone involved in this double success my very warmest congratulations.

“Sport plays an important role in our local communities. It promotes social skills, teamwork, self-esteem and discipline and we cannot underestimate the positive impact it has on our young people.

“These players have been guided by a group of dedicated mentors who willingly give up their time for their benefit and my thanks go to them for their continued commitment and the role they play,” the Mayor added.
